The wonderful pine woods of Bottini, overlooking the sea and reachable by funicular, is an extraordinary vantage point between the land and the sea and an oasis of peace, with cool air on hot summer days.
The pine woods are home to a large amount of pines and this spectacular natural area is a haven for many migratory birds: for this reason, the Municipal Council, in collaboration with LIPU (Italian Bird Protection Society), has launched a conservation project with the installation of nest boxes, feeders and information boards.
From 16th July 2016, the pine woods can be reached from the new funicular, in service all year at different times:
from 1st June to 30th September: 8.30 am-11.00 pm
from 1st October to 31st May: 8.30 am-7.30 pm
The funicular is free and can carry up to 14 people at once. Children under 12 years must be accompanied. Taking pets is permitted but dogs must have a lead and muzzle. Luggage must not exceed a maximum of 25x45x80 cm.
The funicular is electric with a reservation button and has remote control stations from which emergency calls and alarms from the cabin can be sent.
The old Bottini steps are still available for those who want to walk up.
