SUN, BEACH AND SEA HOLIDAY

There are many ways to spend your holiday in Celle Ligure: one of these is a holiday of sun, beach and relax during the summer season, in front of our blue sea, which for many years has obtained certifications and awards.

The Municipality of Celle Ligure has in fact undertaken, for many years, a path aimed at enhancing sustainable tourism and respect for the ecosystem, reaching important goals, first of all the acquisition of the Blue Flag, which was hoisted on the beaches of Celle for the first time in 1989 and then continue to wave also in 1991 and, consecutively, from 1996 to today: in fact, with the 2023 Blue Flag we reach the target of 30th Blue Flags in Celle Ligure!

For a beach holiday, Celle Ligure offers a coastline with seventeen bathing clubs, two free equipped beaches and four free-access beaches, as well as a marina for boats in Cala Cravieu.

It is not possible to think of Celle Ligure without thinking of its sea and all the leisure possibilities it offers; in addition to the simple swims, or the excursions by “pedalò”, you will have the possibility to practise sports such as sailing, canoeing and sport fishing.

Underwater sports lovers can learn more about the oceanic Poseidonia prairie, located in front of the west of the town and recognized as a site of great interest: the Posidonia, endemic to the Mediterranean Sea, is the only herbaceous plant that live on the seabed.

OUTDOOR

Sports and nature lovers will find in the hinterland of Celle Ligure a dense network of hiking trails, which can be traveled on foot, by mountain bike and on horseback, managed by the “Tonino Mordeglia Civil Protection Volunteers Association”.

In the Trekking and Trails section you will find the details of the 4 itineraries belonging to the Ligurian Hiking Network (REL) traced on the territory.

Every year, especially in the summer, the Municipality of Celle Ligure organizes free guided excursions as part of the "Up and down the paths of Celle Ligure" initiative in the company of qualified hiking guides.

For motocross lovers it is possible to access, near the Sanda locality, the “Andrea Timossi cross-track, while horse-riding lovers have at their disposal an equipped "Le Mimose Equestrian Center” located in Via Bolano that organizes summer camps, games and equestrian workshops for the little ones.

For sea lovers, Celle Ligure offers the best conditions for sailing, windsurfing, canoeing and sport fishing. Lovers of underwater sports can discover the wonders of the seabed and deepen their knowledge of the oceanic Poseidonia.

Celle Ligure, Children's Town

The Municipality of Celle Ligure has for years been distinguished by a particular sensitivity towards the world of childhood, so much so that it deserves the title of “Children’s Town”.

The Mago Merlino Municipal Ludoteca (i.e toy library) has been active since 1981, the first in Liguria: it is a magical place where children can live a thousand experiences, play and learn many things while having fun.

The Pietro Costa Municipal Library, centrally located in Lungomare Carlo Russo, has an important section dedicated to children and young people: in fact, about a third of the available books are dedicated to the range of readers from zero to fourteen years old.

The study library service, at the library rooms, is active also in the summer and can be attended by non-resident students who spend their holidays in Celle: it carries out a support service for students struggling with the execution of their homework.

In Celle children and teenagers can play and practice sports in safety thanks to the many parks and gardens literally "scattered" throughout the territory: in the historic center, on the Piani, in the hamlets and also in the suggestive scenery of Bottini Pinewood.

During the summer Celle Ligure becomes the "Village of Children" thanks to the Navicelle event that every year (from 25 years now) animates the summer with afternoon workshops, evening shows, awareness-raising activities towards the environment and the sea and a small theater course with final show. Navicelle is the protagonist of the summer calendar for children with a whole week dedicated in June and many dates in the following months. All children can participate thanks to the free admission of all activities.

The mild climate, the numerous sports facilities and associations in the area make Celle Ligure a privileged place to practice sports throughout the year.

Among the sports facilities, in the locality of Natta, the multipurpose Municipal Sports Center "Giuseppe Olmo / Pino Ferro" consisting of an eleven-football field with natural grass, track and platforms for athletics (six lanes, development of runway 400 meters). It has a special room used as a muscle-building room and it is home to qualified local and international sporting events, many of which are dedicated to young people. Next to the stadium there is also a six-a-side football facility in clay.

In the adjacent Sports Hall, which can accommodate approximately five hundred spectators, various sports activities are practiced, including volleyball, skating and basketball.

Both sports facilities are located in the Natta area, an easily accessible area close to the Celle Ligure (A10) motorway exit and a few steps from the sea.

Other sports facilities in the area include tennis and padel courts, a multi-purpose outdoor basketball and volleyball court, beach volleyball court, municipal bowling green and school gyms in Via Torre and Via Montello where local sports associations carry out sports courses.

The strong link between Celle Ligure and sport is sealed every year by important events and demonstrations, including the Arcobaleno Atletica Europa Meeting, an international athletics event.
